Good stuff, I enjoyed the interview. I agree that we need to move away from just presenting information and assuming that people will learn something. The idea that we should focus content on what people need to ‘do’ rather than what they ‘know’ should make for better delivery.
I look forward to hearing more from Cathy.

Thanks, a great presentation! For years I have been asking the question, ‘How will Teaching & Learning change as we begin to introduce e-Learning?’ This is the best answer so far. However, there is still the danger that teachers may fall into their traditional mindset of presenting yet another dreaded worksheet that just says, ‘This is what you must DO.’ I still think that as educators we are in the business of motivation or proposition that provokes our students to WANT to DO. Yes, experiential learning is the bedrock of Cathy’s message but we also need teachers who can envision learning scenarios which not only raise expectation but also generate an eagerness to explore and learn.

I would very much like to quote extracts of this interview as text. Any chance of a .pdf of the interview?

    Best Wishes,
    Ray T

A really clear presentation and plenty there to get people thinking. Thank you, I’ll be linking this to my ‘nuggets’.

On a different note … what application is being used to present this - It really helps (me) to have the text there as well - I’ve not seen this before

Hi! Is it possible to have a transcript as the filtering system on our school network is blocking this!

Very good interview that covers really important points about elearning. That we should look at affecting a learner’s behaviour via activities in the online medium via simulation means that the activities become the driver that gives the information relevance and context.

  6. Nick Says:

Hi! Please make can you the transcript available along side the mp3 file? My work IT service prevents mp3s being downloaded without red tape being involved!
